The teams are in the final phase of their preparation and the fans cannot stay calm after watching the visuals coming out of the training camps. Meanwhile, recently former India cricketer Aakash Chopra made a bold prediction that Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma will score 500 runs in IPL 2020 if he opens the batting.

The cricketer-turned-commentator has earned a reputation for himself with his sharp analysis of the game. He has been putting out his thoughts on his YouTube channel. After making a couple of predictions, Aakash feels Rohit can be a star for Mumbai this season.

Incidentally, Rohit Sharma has not played international cricket since long. He last played during the T20I series against New Zealand where he copped a blow on his finger. He missed the ODIs and Test leg of the tour followed by the South Africa series, which was called off midway.

However, ever since he returned in the Mumbai, Rohit Sharma has looked in fine touch in training camp. He has been the hitting the ball well and looks all set to defend the title. In the wake of this, Aakash Chopra believes Rohit Sharma will accumulate over 500 runs in IPL 2020 if he opens the innings.

“I am going for Rohit Sharma to be Mumbai Indians’ tournament protector. Because if Rohit Sharma opens the batting for MI, I have no doubt that he will do well. If he scores around 500 runs in IPL 2020, he can surely perform the role of tournament protector to perfection,” Aakash Chopra said on his YouTube channel.

Furthermore, Aakash Chopra also added that Mumbai Indians need to do well with the bat to defend the trophy. The former cricketer took reference from last season where five of their players scored over 400 runs and said that similar things are needed this time.

“From an individual’s perspective, I feel an injury to Rohit Sharma will be a real threat for the Mumbai Indians. Because there is no one around him who has a bank of runs. Chris Lynn’s form will also be a threat,” he added.
