Earlier this month Harbhajan Singh had decided not to fly to UAE with the Chennai Super Kings squad owing to personal reasons. Since then much has been predicted about when will the veteran off-spinner join his IPL squad. Now finally Harbhajan is expected to join the CSK camp in Dubai on September 1.
Now before boarding his flight to the UAE, Harbhajan will be obliged to undergo 2 COVID-19 Tests in India. Once he is tested negative he will fly to the UAE and will again be examined as he will be tested 3 times again. Then the seasoned spinner will be quarantined for 7 days upon arrival as per the SOPs bound by BCCI.
Harbhajan To Join CSK On September 1
The CSK camp will certainly be extra cautious after their 11 staff members and 2 players including Deepak Chahar were found COVID-19 positive. Before the franchises had departed BCCI in their detailed plan had already made it very clear that throughout the IPL all members associated with the league will have to protect the bio-secure bubble at all times.
Meanwhile, star CSK batsman Suresh Raina also surprised everyone when he pulled out of the league due to personal reasons. Coming back to Harbhajan, the spin wizard has been part of the CSK franchise since the 2018 edition. Harbhajan previously played for the Mumbai Indians but was released by the franchise 2 years ago.
The 40-year-old is still very keen to play competitive cricket and has no plans of retiring from the game. He has played 160 matches in the IPL, picking up 150 wickets at an average of 26.44, with the best bowling figures of five for 18. He has picked up seven wickets in his last five IPL appearances for CSK.
Furthermore, all the franchises are currently in the UAE preparing for the much-anticipated IPL season. The IPL 2020 will be contested between September 19- November 10 in a bio-secure bubble.
