Kolkata Knight Riders’ new recruit Ali Khan has been ruled of the entire edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) owing to an injury. Incidentally, he joined the squad a few days before the start of the competition as the replacement of left-arm pacer Harry Gurney.
A statement read that first player from USA – Ali Khan will miss the entire IPL 2020 after sustaining an injury. However, the nature of the injury is yet to be known. It will be a massive blow to the 29-year-old fast bowler, who was looking forward to making his debut with Kolkata Knight Riders.
Ali Khan ruled out of IPL 2020
So far, the Knight Riders have played two matches winning two games while they went down in the other two. Ali Khan, who was coming from the back of a good CPL with the Trinbago Knight Riders, didn’t feature in any of the games for KKR.
“Earlier, Kolkata Knight Riders signed up Ali Khan as a replacement for injured Harry Gurney. Khan became the first USA cricketer to be signed up by an IPL franchise. Unfortunately, Khan has since been injured and will miss the rest of the Dream11 IPL 2020 season,” an IPL statement read.
Ali Khan has a happy knack of clocking 140+ consistently. He had a successful campaign with Trinbago picking eight wickets in eight matches with an economy rate of 7.43.
Kolkata look for win against CSK
Meanwhile, Kolkata Knight Riders will lock horns with Chennai Super Kings later tonight at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. After a humiliating loss against Delhi Capitals, they will be desperate to return to winning ways against CSK, who are coming from a 10-wicket win over Kings XI Punjab.
They are currently placed at the fourth spot with four points from the same number of games and will hope to secure a win and go up in the IPL 2020 points table.
