The novel coronavirus is turning out to be more fatal with each passing day. It has halted the daily routine of the humans with the authorities asking them to remain indoors to contain the virus from spreading. Along with many sporting events, the forthcoming edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) was postponed until April 15 which was scheduled to commence from March 29. But as per the current situation, it might get delayed more.

While Italy and China have been majorly affected, there is a spark increase in the number of coronavirus cases in India in the last two days. While seven peoples have already been reported dead, many more are fighting for their lives with more than 400 cases registered. The government has ordered a full lockdown in the country from today until March 31.

IPL 2020 which was scheduled to kick start from March 29 has now been postponed to April 15. The premier T20 tournament is expected to be delayed further if the coronavirus spreads rapidly in India. The number of positive cases of the novel coronavirus has been on a rise in India.

As per a report in India Today, IPL 2020 can be delayed further or even called off if coronavirus spread goes out of hand in India. The report further adds that BCCI is also mulling over staging the tournament at the end of the year and a call on its future might be taken by the end of this month.

Meanwhile, BCCI is likely to hold a conference with all the eight franchise on March 24 over the call to decide on the fate of the tournament amid all the ruckus due to the coronavirus outbreak.
