17-11 reads the tally with Mumbai Indians comfortably ahead in terms of win over their opponents Chennai Super Kings. On September 19, these two arch-rivals in the IPL will come face to face again to start a new season of the cash-rich league. MI vs CSK will thus be a prelude to yet another captivating season in the Indian Premier League.

Both teams get into the tournament with a lot of match practice and seems prepared for a long season ahead. However, it is Chennai Super Kings who is on the backfoot, with two of their senior players missing. Both Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh have opted out of the tournament due to personal reasons. It is situations like these that MS Dhoni enjoys the most. He will bring the best with his available resources and make them deliver as well.

Mumbai Indians, on the other hand, has their core team all fresh and ready to take the ground. The likes of Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Kieron Pollard and the Pandya brothers (Krunal, Hardik) make up the core of the side and are ready for the first match.

One important factor which separates the two teams this season is the presence of spinners. While CSK has a galaxy of spinners in their side, the spin attack of MI is their weak link. Experts predict that it is this difference between the two teams which might dictate the winner of the contest.

Team News For MI vs CSK

Generally in an MI vs CSK contest, both teams have their key players playing. However, in this contest, two key players are missing from the CSK camp, namely Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh.

Meanwhile, Mumbai have all their players available for the key contest, which puts them in a slightly advantageous position. However, they have a bad record in the UAE. They lost all their previous five matches in the 2014 edition and this factor somewhat equates the balance. Plus Mumbai, historically have been slow starters in the tournament.

Weather And Pitch Conditions

The weather is expected to be hot and humid. A minimum temperature of 40 degrees is expected when the game starts with the teamp[erature getting a bit better as the game progresses.

Pitches in the UAE have historically assisted the spinners. The spinners will get a lot of purchase in terms of spin and bounce making it difficult for the batsmen. However, if the batsmen get themselves set, they can score runs on the wicket.
