Sunrisers Hyderabad all-rounder Mitchell Marsh is ruled out of IPL 2020, the franchise confirmed the news on their official Twitter handle. Windies all-rounder Jason Holder has been named as his replacement. He thus becomes the first player to be ruled out of the season due to injury.

Marsh, who was picked ahead of Mohammed Nabi in the Sunrisers playing line-up against Royal Challengers Bangalore, injured his ankle in the very second delivery of his spell.

He had to leave the field as he was hobbling badly and was not able to put any weight on his right ankle. Marsh came into bat for SRH late in their chase but was dismissed in the very first ball.

“It seems a serious injury. I am not sure if he’be able to compete in any of the matches,” a team source told PTI.

Aftter the match even SRH skipper Warner gave an update on his injury where he said that it doesn’t look good with the injury.  “A lot of courage for Mitchell (Marsh) to go out there and try. It doesn’t look great for him, can’t put any weight on his leg” said Warner.

SRH Name Mitchell Marsh Replacement

Earlier, there were reports that Australian all-rounder Dan Christian might replace Marsh in the Sunrisers squad. However, they decided to go for the Windies skipper Holder, who recently played in CPL 2020 for Barbados Tridents. Incidentally, Holder previously has played for the Sunrisers in the IPL.

Sunrisers have a couple of good players available to fill in for the Australia all-rounder. Kane Williamson, Mohammed Nabi, Fabian Allen and his replacement Holder are all worth replacing him in the playing XI.

Sunrisers, who lost their campaign opener against RCB on Monday will face Kolkata Knight Riders next in Abu Dhabi on Saturday, September 26.
