Rishabh Pant limping after taking the catch of Varun Aaron in Delhi Capitals‘ last match against Rajasthan Royals was a sight that was not welcoming for the DC management. However, as per initial reports from close sources to the management, Pant was just sore and there were no injury concerns. Delhi Capitals beat the Royals by 46 runs in Sharjah in match 23 to go to the top of the IPL 2020 points table. Ho

However, Delhi Capitals skipper Shreyas Iyer in the post-match presentation after Delhi’s loss to Mumbai on Sunday confirmed, that the wicket-keeper batsman could be out for at least a week after coping with injury. He further said that the medical staff has advised a week’s rest for Pant, keeping in mind the seriousness of his injury.

Pant’s injury comes at a really wrong time for the Capitals, who have been consistent so far in the tournament. He will be badly missed in the middle-overs in the death overs of their innings when they really needed a kick on.

“We have no idea (on Rishabh’s availability), the doctor said he has to rest for a week and hope he comes back really strong,” Iyer said at the post-match presentation ceremony, when asked about Pant’s injury.

Delhi Capitals have had a few injury concerns in this IPL season so far. R Ashwin injured his shoulder in the very first match that Delhi played in this season. He missed out a few games before making a comeback for the side against KKR in Sharjah. Veteran spinner Amit Mishra was ruled out of IPL 2020 in the same match that Ashwin made a comeback after breaking his spinning finger.
