Sam Curran scored his second IPL fifty and the first one for Chennai Super Kings as they faced a humiliating defeat against Mumbai Indians. MI beat CSK by 10 wickets to had the latter their eighth loss of this IPL campaign. The season is going bad to worse for the season for MS Dhoni’s men who are just not finding ways to get a win in the tournament. Meanwhile, even in this defeat, the CSK batters Sam Curran and Imran Tahir managed to create a unique record.
Sam Curran-Imran Tahir’s Record Partnership vs Mumbai Indians
Sam Curran and Imran Tahir scored 43 runs for the 9th wicket against Mumbai Indians in a score of 114. Interestingly this is the highest ninth-wicket in the history of the IPL. On a wicket where all the other CSK batters struggled to get runs, Curran played an entertaining innings. He hit four fours and two sixes in his innings.
Meanwhile, Imrah Tahir, playing his first game, did well to stick with Curran and prevent Mumbai from bowling out CSK. He scored 13 off 10 balls with two fours in his knock.

Mumbai Indians, tracked the chase down in 12.2 overs and won the match with as many as 46 balls left. Ishan Kishan (68 off 37) was particularly aggressive in his innings. He was well supported by Quinton De Kock (46 off 37). The pair hit a total of 18 boundaries as the CSK bowlers failed to take even one wicket.
The loss has put CSK back again at the bottom of the points table. They are now with six points from 11 games and unlikely to make the playoffs. Meanwhile, Mumbai have gone up to the first position in the points table with 14 points and a better net run-rate (+1.448).
CSK now will have to win their remaining games by nig margin and a lot of other things to go their way, if they are to make the playoffs.
