Rohit Sharma scored 33 off 30 balls against KKR and was dismissed in the 10th over of the innings by Sunil Narine for the seventh time in IPL. In the process, he went past 1000 runs and 100 fours against KKR and became the only player to do so. However, the Mumbai innings never moved on after the dismissal of Rohit and they scored a below-par total at last. This was noted  by Aakash Chopra.

Aakash Chopra in his recent Youtube video spoke about Rohit Sharma’s batting approach. He said that after a good start Rohit slowed down his scoring rate and ultimately lost his wicket. Aakash Chopra pointed out that Rohit Sharma took his foot off the accelerator pedal after having given the team a blazing start with opener Quinton De Kock.

“Rohit Sharma and Quinton de Kock started in a very aggressive fashion. But Sunil Narine comes in the 10th over and dismisses Rohit. Rohit Sharma started like a Shatabdi but gradually became a goods train. He scored 33 runs in 30 balls, he doesn’t play that slowly” said Chopra.

Suryakunar Yadav & Ishan Kishan Needs To Score Runs: Aakash Chopra

Reason why Mumbai Indians won't be able to retain Surya Kumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan in IPL 2022 | CricketTimes.com

Aakash Chopra also spoke about the fact that both Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan needs to score runs ahead of the T20 World Cup. They both were matchwinners in the previous two seasons but have gotten cold increasingly this season.

“Suryakumar Yadav’s bat is not firing and the same is the case with Ishan Kishan. Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy – they just choked the opposition. Then Kieron Pollard tried his best, Krunal was also batting okay, but you left runs on the pitch as 175-180 should have been scored” said the cricketer turned commentator.

Aakash Chopra concluded by saying that Mumbai Indians might not make it to the final four which might not be a surprise. KKR meanwhile registered only their seventh win over Mumbai in all IPL competition.

“Don’t be surprised if the Mumbai Indians don’t even qualify, that is also possible. The two-time defending champions, who are looking for a hat-trick, they might not qualify. It has been a long time since we have seen this type of annihilation of Mumbai” he concluded.
