Kolkata Knight Riders’ opening batter Ventakesh Iyer has taken the UAE leg of the Indian Premier League 2021 by storm. He has impressed everyone with his natural strokeplay. Former India cricketer Parthiv Patel feels Venkatesh has a lot of Yuvraj Singh in his batting.
The opening batsman scored his maiden Indian Premier League fifty, as he helped Kolkata Knight Riders chase down 156 runs against Mumbai Indias. In his 53-runs knock, Ventakesh hit four boundaries and three sixes, taking on the formidable Mumbai Indian’s bowling attack.
In a discussion with Starsports, Parthiv Patel termed Venkatesh Iyer as a fearless batter. He added that the youngster has shown maturity and courage in his batting in the Indian Premier League. Parthiv said,
“We do talk about a lot of boundaries. But the maturity that Venkatesh Iyer showed was superb. We are talking about someone who is not an India A player, someone who has not played international cricket. He showed so much maturity and courage to go out there and back himself. That’s something we always look out for in young players in the IPL. He went out and played fearless cricket.”

Venkatesh Iyer will have a great future: Parthiv Patel
Parthiv Patel also asserted that Venkatesh Iyer will have a great future as he can bat any position in the team. He opined that there is a lot of Yuvraj Singh in his batting. Parthiv Patel said,
“One of the great things about him, having seen him, he can not only open, but he can also bat from 1 to 9 and bowl as well. So, he will have a great future. I think there is a lot of Yuvraj Singh in him. There is a lot of flow.”
Former England cricketer Graeme Swann also praised Venkatesh Iyer and stated he should have got the Man of the Match Award.
“The boy has got swag and talent. I love the way he goes about his cricket. He is my Man of the Match,” said Graeme Swann.
