England’s T20 World Cup-bound players could miss the knockout stages of IPL 2021. Moeen Ali and Sam Curran both of who play for CSK will be unavailable for the franchise when the knockout stage begins. The IPL 2021 season resumes in the UAE with CSK playing Mumbai Indians in the campaign opener in Dubai on September 19. Almost all players of different franchises have reached the UAE for the second leg.
England To Tour Pakistan In October
Ahead of the T20 World Cup, England will play a two-match T20I series against Pakistan on October 14 & 15. The players will reach Pakitan on October 9 to prepare. The T20Is against Pakistan are being seen as a build-up to England’s T20 World Cup dreams. The England players will play two more warm-up games in the UAE and the board wants all their players to be available.
England players will last play for their franchises during the league stage which ends on October 8. England’s tour of Pakistan also clashes with the IPL 2021 playoffs. The two T20Is will be played on October 13 and 14. Meanwhile, the playoff games will be starting with Qualifier 1 on October 10. The Eliminator and Qualifier 2 then take place on October 11 and 13 respectively. The IPL final takes place on October 15.
CSK will be the most affected side without the English players. They will miss Moeen Ali and Sam Curran both of whom are key players for the franchise. Meanwhile, Jonny Bairstow and Chris Woakes have already pulled out of the website. Of the 10 England playing in the IPL, everyone except George Garton have been selected in England’s T20 World Cup squad.
The tournament starts from October 17 with playoff games till October 22. England play their first T20 World Cup game against West Indies on October 23.
