Mumbai Indians pacer Jasprit Bumrah took 2/24 against Punjab Kings as his team secured a crucial win to stay alive in IPL 2021. The side won by six wickets and are up to the fifth position in the points table with three more games to go.

Jasprit Bumrah dismissed Nicholas Pooran (8) and Deepak Hooda (28) as Punjab scored 135/6. Aiden Markram( 42) along with Hooda helped them to get to that score after a false start from the openers. KL Rahul was dismissed for 22 and with no Mayank Agarwal in the playing XI, the side struggled to get going.

Interestingly, Bumrah’s wife Sanjana Ganesan had rightly predicted the number of wickets her husband will claim against Punjab.

In an interaction with Mumbai Indians, Sanjana Ganesan was asked to predict the number of wickets Bumrah would claim against Punjab. “I would want him to pick 5 wickets but I think he will pick 2 wickets in the match,” Ganesan said.

As it turned out, Sanjana’s predictions came true as he picked two wickets giving away just 24 runs off his spell. Meanwhile, after the game, Kieron Pollard defended his team for the criticism it has been facing regarding their out-of-form middle-order batsmen. Suryakumar Yadav was dismissed for a duck while Ishan Kishan was dropped for this game.

“It’s difficult when you have a lot of other people on the outside as well speaking about it. These people speak and they don’t understand what people go through as cricketers. So for us, it is about backing individuals and trying to give them the confidence to do well because they are young, talented individuals” said Pollard.

1. With the ball Jasprit Bumrah and Kieron Pollard took two wickets each. In the process, Pollard reached 300 T20 wickets. He also took the catch of Deepak Hooda to dismiss him which was his 300th in T20 cricket.
