Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) stunned one and all securing their second victory of IPL 2021 when they defeated Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Monday by seven wickets. With the victory, Hyderabad have kept themselves floating for a top-four finish in the ongoing competition.

As per statistician Deepu Narayanan, if Sunrisers Hyderabad win all of their four remaining fixtures and Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Royals, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Punjab Kings win just one each, the Orange Army will march to the playoffs stage. In this case, even NRR won’t come into play, and Kane Williamson & Co will make their way into the top four.

“Today’s win mean SRH can qualify without even NRR coming into play, provided:#SRHwin all their remaining 4 games #MI#RR= #KKR#PBKS all win exactly one match each,” he wrote on Twitter.

Fielding first, Sunrisers Hyderabad managed to restrict Rajasthan Royals to 164 runs despite a swashbuckling knock from Sanju Samson. Siddarth Kaul and Bhuvneshwar Kumar gave away only 11 runs in the 19th and 20th overs to contain Rajasthan Royals to an average total.

Jason Roy, who came into the playing XI in place of David Warner, played a fine knock of 60 runs and added 57 runs for the first wicket alongside Wriddhiman Saha to set up the run chase. Although Saha got out after a blistering start, the England opener added another 57 with Kane Williamson to keep Hyderabad on track in the run chase.

The Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper remained unbeaten on 51 runs alongside Abhishek Sharma (21*) to ensure his side sailed past the target without any more hiccups.

Sunrisers Hyderabad face table-toppers Chennai Super Kings on Thursday.
