Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) lost their fourth straight game of the season as Rajasthan Royals beat them by six wickets at the Wankhede stadium on Saturday. This loss takes KKR to the last position of the points table with a net run rate of ( -0.675). The Royals, on the other hand, have moved upto the sixth position in the table. Chasing KKR’s target of 134 to win, Royals skipper Sanju Samson (42*off 41 balls) ensured that the sideeases down the target with wickets and balls to apar. They won the match with seven balls to spare. Samson was aided by Yashasvi Jaiswal’s (22), Shivam Dube’s (22) and David Miller‘s unbeaten 24 at the end. Varun Chakravarty was the most successful KKR bowler with 2/32. Prasidh Krishna and Shivam Mavi took a wicket each.

KKR, who scored over 200 runs just two days ago on this same wicket failed to breach even 150 against the Royals. Their batting approach was hardly understandable as they showed no urgency to score within the powerplay.
Kolkata Knight Riders Lose Four Straight Games
In between, they lost two wickets to run-outs and Andre Russell was again sent to bat at number seven and as late as the 17th over of the KKR innings. They finally mustered a below-par 133/9 which was chased in a canter by the opposition.
Chris Morris took 4/23 for the Royals and accounted for Russell’s wicket fourth time in his career. All the bowlers bowled well and they were helped by their fielders as well. He was also given the Man of the Match award for his contribution to the Royals win.
It is going to be incredibly tough from here on for the two-time champions who now travel to Ahmedabad for four games and Bangalore for their final five games. The Royals meanwhile play their next four games in Delhi taking on Mumbai Indians in their next.
