Friday’s encounter will see Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) go up against each other at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in Sharjah. CSK are placed second in the points table while RCB are third and both sides will look to secure a win as they aim to seal a top-four berth.
RCB lacked runs from Glenn Maxwell and AB de Villiers in their first match against KKR and will hope both of them to fire against MS Dhoni & Co. Virat Kohli’s form with the bat has also been a concern for the franchise after the defeat but the skipper stressed that there is no need to panic just after one defeat.
CSK, on the other hand, showed glimpses of last season before a miraculous turn-around thanks to Ruturaj Gaikwad’s remarkable innings. The yellow army will look to keep up the momentum against RCB which might see Sam Curran warm up the benches even after completing his quarantine owing to Dwayne Bravo’s superlative form.
On that note, let’s take a look at 3 players, who will be under the spotlight in MPL Fantasy cricket during RCB vs KKR game:
#1. Virat Kohli (RCB)
Virat Kohli is known to be at his best when he go up against tough opponents and what better than to score runs against Chennai Super Kings. He has been short of runs in recent times and will be desperate to hit the strides against CSK.
To Kohli relief, the stats also favour the talismanic run-scorer. The RCB captain has amassed a total of 895 runs against CSK at an average of over 40.
Kohli will hope to keep up the good work against CSK while MS Dhoni & Co primary job will be keep the right-handed batsman in check.
#2. Faf du Plessis (CSK)
Faf du Plessis is one of the key figures in the CSK line-up. He provides the firepower at the top-order and the franchise will hope the former Proteas captain to fire.
The veteran right-handed batsman averages 36.6 against RCB in 10 innings. After getting out for a three-ball duck against MI, Faf will be desperate to hit the run-scoring spree against his favorite opposition.
#3. Yuzvendra Chahal (RCB)
The veteran leg-spinner is one of the match-winners for RCB, picking up wickets in crucial situations. The spinner from Haryana looked off-colours in the first game against KKR and will be desperate to bounce back.
Chahal, who missed out on a T20 World Cup squad spot, enjoys a good record against CSK, scalping 13 wickets from 12 games at a strike rate of 21.2.
As RCB look to bounce back, the spotlight will be on the leg-spinner to provide them with major breakthroughs.
