IPL 2021: Mumbai Indians Skipper Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Reach Abu Dhabi For UAE Leg

Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma has arrived in Abu Dhabi with teammates Jasprit Bumtah and Suryakumar Yadav on a private charter flight on Saturday. The trio will undergo a six-day quarantine period before the side plays their first game against Chennai Super Kings in Dubai. The defending champions are currently placed fourth in the points table.

“Mumbai Indians flew in three of its Indian contingent members, captain Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, and Suryakumar Yadav, to Abu Dhabi on a private charter flight. The trio, along with their families, arrived today morning and will now undergo 6 days hard quarantine, starting today as per the IPL’s guidelines.”

“All members had returned negative RT PCR results before departure. A new RT PCR test was undertaken upon arrival at Abu Dhabi, which are negative as well,” the franchise further added.

The franchise’s official Twitter handle also shared pictures of the players reaching Dubai with their family members.

The first half of the 2021 IPL had to be postponed due to several Covid-19 cases coming up within the tournament’s bio-bubbles in New Delhi and Ahmedabad. The season will now resume in the UAE with MI facing Chennai Super Kings in the first match on September 19.

Meanwhile, a few England players have backed out from the UAE leg after the fifth and final Test match at Manchester was cancelled. The English players were reportedly angry with the Indian players which is they they have pulled out from the tournament.

As per ANI, Jonny Bairstow, Dawid Malan, Chris Woakes are the players who have pulled out. Sunrisers Hyderabad, Punjab Kings and Delhi capitals are the franchises who will be affected by this decision from the England players.

Mumbai Indians Fourth On IPL 2021 Points Table

Mumbai Indians play Chennai Super Kings on September 19 kicking off the second half of the IPL. The final will be played on October 15.
