IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals have announced their first replacement player ahead of the UAE leg earlier today. They have roped in Glenn Phillips for the second half of the season starting from September 19, 2021. The right-handed wicketkeeper-batsman from Auckland is currently part of the Barbados Royals franchise in the CPL. The Royals play their first game of the second half against Punjab Kings in Dubai.
The Kiwi wicket-keeper batsman is a freelance T20 cricketer having played in the CPL and the Abu Dhabi T10 League before. The top-order batsman has 506 runs to his name in 25 T20Is with a strike rate of 149.70 and has also been involved in various cricket leagues around the world, most recently in The Hundred and the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). The Royals confirmed the joining of Phillips via a tweet.

Rajasthan Royals To Miss Key Overseas Players In UAE Leg
The franchise will be missing their key overseas players in the UAE leg. While Jofra Archer has been ruled out of the entire year, Ben Stokes has taken an indefinite break from cricket. Chris Morris has opted out due to personal reasons while Jos Buttler is expecting the birth of his second child.

Rajasthan Royals, play their first game against Punjab Kings in Dubai on September 21. They are currently placed fifth on the points table with three wins and four losses. They are on six points with a net run-rate of -0.190. Sanju Samson will resume his leadership with the side.
Royals will play three games in Dubai and two each in Abu Dhabi and Sharjah to complete their league phase. They resume their campaign against Punjab and end it against Kolkata Knight Riders in Sharjah.
Sharjah was a lucky ground for the side last season. They won two back-to-back high-scoring games last season at the venue to start their campaign with thrilling wins.
