RCB won their third straight match in IPL 2021 as they beat KKR by 38 runs in match 10 of IPL 2021. In the process, they go to the top of the points table again with six points under their belt. This is the first time the Virat Kohli-led side has won their first three games of the season. Meanwhile, KKR slid to their second straight loss in back to back games. This was also RCB’s 13th win over one of their arch-rivals in the IPL. More about match 10 report in detail below.
Chasing a mammoth score of 205 to win, KKR fell short of the target by a fair margin. The likes of Eoin Morgan (29), Dinesh Karthik (2), Shakib Al Hasan (26) and Andre Russell (31) had too much to do in the final overs of the match to get their team over the line. Shubman Gill (21) gave a good start to KKR but fell at the wrong time by the brilliance of Dan Christian. The consistent Nitish Rana (18) faltered after two good scores in the first two games.
KKR were on par with RCB’s score well till the 15th over of their chase. However, the loss of wickets at regular intervals made the run chase difficult. Morgan’s men needed 84 off the final five overs and they fell short by 38 in the end.

De Villiers-Maxwell help RCB Outplay KKR
Earlier in the game, Virat Kohli won the toss and opted to bat first. RCB lost two quick wickets in the powerplay and were 9/2 in the first two overs. Glenn Maxwell (79) then added 86 first with Devdutt Padikkal (25) and then came the partnership that changed the balance of the game to RCB’s favour. Maxwell is also the owner of the purple cap currently after his knock against KKR. He has scored 178 runs from three matches at a strike rate of 149.15.
AB De Villiers (74) then added 53 in quick time with Maxwell before the Aussie fell in the 17th over of their innings. That did not stop De Villiers from taking on the KKR bowlers in the final few overs. RCB scored 70 off their final five overs, which ultimately became the difference between both teams. The South African superman for his breathtaking innings was awarded the Man of the Match.
After three wins out of three, RCB face Rajasthan Royals on April 22. KKR have work to do in their next game against CSK in Mumbai on April 21. KKR finished fifth in the last two editions of the IPL and missed out on making it to the playoffs on net run-rate. This loss against RCB is a big dent on their net run rate this season as well.
