Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) batsman Sherfane Rutherford has left the IPL 2021 bubble to be with his family after the sudden demise of his father, the franchise confirmed on Thursday. Incidentally, the southpaw was not a part of Wednesday’s encounter against the Delhi Capitals, where they went down by eight wickets.
Hyderabad took to social media to express their condolences for Sherfane Rutherford and his family. They wrote:
The SRH family conveys its heartfelt condolences to Sherfane Rutherford and his family on the passing away of his father. Sherfane will be leaving the IPL bio-bubble to be with his family in this difficult hour.

Incidentally, Sherfane Rutherford was added to the Sunrisers Hyderabad squad as a replacement for star opener Jonny Bairstow, who pulled out of the second phase of IPL 2021 at the last moment. He was in superlative form with the bat in the recently concluded Caribbean Premier League (CPL 2021). Previously, he has been part of Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians in the IPL.
Sunrisers Hyderabad losing run continues in IPL 2021
Kane Williamson’s looked rusty against Delhi Capitals as they slowly get away from making it to the playoffs. Batting first, they managed to post only 134 runs. With wickets falling on a trot, it looked like they would fall short of 100 but Abdul Samad and Rashid Khan‘s late contribution propelled them to a challenging total.
But for an in-form Delhi Capitals batting order, it looked like a cakewalk. Despite losing Prithvi Shaw, Shikhar Dhawan got Delhi on track before Shreyas Iyer and skipper Rishabh Pant took them home comfortably with 13 balls to spare.
