IPL franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad have signed West Indian batsman Sherfane Rutherford for the remainder of IPL 2021. He comes in as a replacement for Jonny Bairstow who pulled out from the UAE leg after the fifth Test between England and India in Manchester was cancelled. Along wih him, Chris Woakes and Dawid Malan have also pulled themselves out from the remaining leg.
Rutherford played in IPL 2019 with Delhi Capitals and scored 73 runs from seven games. He is currently plying his trade with St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the Caribbean Premier League and is having a good season. He’s scored 202 runs in 7 games including 3 fifties.
Bairstow’s absence increases the pressure on the franchise who are heavily reliant on their overseas players to score most of their runs. Bairstow and David Warner have scored 60 percent of their runs over the years and that is where he will be a big miss.

The franchise is placed last on the points table at the moment having lost six out of their first seven games. David Warner who started as the captain of the side was swapped halfway with Kane Williamson. However, that did not change the fortunes of the franchise.
Sunrisers Hyderabad Last On Points Table
They played some ordinary cricket in the first phase of the tournament leading to some one-sided games against different opposition. In their remaining seven games, they play three games in Dubai and two each in Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. They play their last league game against Mumbai Indians on October 08.
SRH resume their campaign against Delhi Capitals on September 22. They then play Punjab and Rajasthan. Their final four games are against tough oppositions like CSK, KKR, Mumbai Indians and RCB all of whom are at the above SRH in the points table.
