Sri Lankan all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga was roped in by Royal Challengers Bangalore ahead of the UAE leg of IPL 2021. He will join the side as Adam Zampa’s replacement. The franchise has also added Dushmanta Chameera and Singapore’s Tim David to their squad. RCB will resume their UAE leg by facing KKR in the first of their remaining seven games.
The Sri Lankan spinner expressed his excitement on Instagram after learning the news of his IPL signing. Wanindu Hasaranga revealed how he would watch RCB’s matches on TV at his home, and now, he is going to be a part of the RCB squad.
“From sitting at home and watching them, to being a part of an amazing team. I am excited, honoured and thrilled all at once,” Wanindu Hasaranga captioned his latest Instagram post.

The RCB franchise also welcomed the Lankan all-rounder saying ” Welcome To The Family. Hasaranga’s former Sri Lankan teammate Isuru Udana also welcomed him. The left-am pacer joined the franchise ahead of IPL 2020.
Hasaranga had a memorable T20I series against India picking up nine wickets in the series including four wickets in the final to help his team beat India. He later admitted that he was approached by two IPL franchises during the series against India.
“Two IPL teams have approached me after the series against India. Getting a chance to play in the IPL is a big deal and it’s my dream to feature in the IPL one day,” said Hasaranga.
RCB earlier today, confirmed the signing of the all-rounder and extending their squad in the process. After a six-day quarantine in UAE and subject to clearing Covid tests, they’ll be permitted to begin training. Third on the points standings when the league was suspended in early May, RCB will kickstart their UAE leg with a clash against Kolkata Knight Riders on September 20 in Abu Dhabi.
