The second leg of the Indian Premier League 2021 has resumed with the clash between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI) in the UAE. However, CSK has a poor start as they lost three of their key players within the first 3 overs. To make things worse, Ambati Rayudu got injured.
After having won the toss, MS Dhoni chose to bat first. But the in-form opener Faf du Plessis and Moeen Ali got out for ducks. Rayudu, who came to bat in the 2nd over, faced only 3 balls before returning to the dugout.
It happened in Adam Milne’s over when he bowled a sharp delivery and Ambati Rayudu had no clue about it. He tried to sway away from it but got hit on the elbow. And, soon, he fell down on the ground. Although he got up in time and took a leg bye, things were not good as Rayudu was seen in some discomfort and the physio came to attend to him. And, eventually, he walked off the field.

Earlier in the game, after winning the toss, MS Dhoni stated that they will look to keep things simple and follow the basics.
“We will bat first, looks like a good wicket. Setting a target will be a better option. It’s the same for everyone. I can’t say if it’s a good break or not. Once tournament starts, you get into some sort of rhythm but this season it’s new and maybe us cricketers will start loving it. Seven games, then a break, and seven more. It comes down to how you play on that day in the shortest form. We’ll try to do the basics right and focus on the process. Sam is not available. Faf, Moeen, Bravo and Josh are playing this game.”
Mumbai Indians’ stand-in captain Kieron Pollard said: “We weren’t so sure, so happy that I lost the toss. Rohit is okay, he’ll be fine sooner rather than later, I’m just the captain for today. We started a couple of months back, and we were just starting to build the momentum with a couple of wins. Rohit misses out, Hardik is not playing as well. Anmolpreet makes his debut, that’s about it, all others are regular players.”
