The Indian Premier League 2022 season is all set to begin from March 26 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai as BCCI announced IPL 2022 full schedule on March 6. Ahead of the tournament, a mega-auction was held last month, for teams to build their squad for the upcoming seasons of the IPL.

The IPL 2022 mega auctions witnessed lavish spending by the franchises to acquire the services of top players. Bowlers were in heavy demand in the auctions as well as in the retention round, as the teams focused on building a strong bowling attack.

In this article, we take a look at the 5 most expensive bowlers and their cost per ball in the Indian Premier League 2022 season, considering they play all 14 matches, and complete their four overs quota.

#5 Shardul Thakur (INR 3.19 Lakh per ball)

Shardul has showcased his all-round capabilities to the world at the international level. He was the leading wicket-taker for the Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2022. The pacer bowls his full quota of four overs and is also a very capable lower-order batter.

Thakur’s all-around heroics earned him INR 10.75 Cr, as the Delhi Capitals signed him at the IPL 2022 auctions. It will fetch him approximately INR 3.19 Lakh for each delivery in this season.

Delhi Capitals will be hoping plays to his potential in the Indian Premier League 2022.

Indian Premier League 2022 was a breakthrough season for Harshal Patel. Playing for the Royal Challengers Bangalore, he took 32 wickets in 15 matches, at an average of 14.34. Harshal also won the Purple Cap in IPL 2021 season.

For the 2022 season, RCB could not retain the pacer, however, they signed him back in the auctions for 10.75 crores.

For each ball bowled in the IPL 2022 season, Harshal Patel earn 3.19 Lakhs INR. He will be keen to replicate his performance from the previous for the Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Jasprit Bumrah has been the spearhead of the Mumbai Indians bowling attack over the last few years. He has played over 100 IPL matches for the franchise and has taken 130 wickets at an average of 23.05. The pacer was the third leading wicket-taker last season.

Bumrah was retained by the five-time IPL champions before the IPL 2022 auctions for INR 12 crores, which is 60% more than his previous salary for the team.

He will fetch INR 3.57 Lakh per ball this season in the Indian Premier League.


#2 Deepak Chahar (INR 4.16 Lakh per ball)

Deepak Chahar attracted a bidding war at the Indian Premier League 2022 auction tables. He was acquired by the Chennai Super Kings again, but for a whopping sum of INR 14c crores. Deepak has been a part of Chennai Super Kings since 2018 and is the sixth leading wicket-taker for the franchise.

From IPL 2022 season, Deepak Chahar’s bowling services will cost the CSK INR 4.16 Lakh per ball. Unfortunately, due to an injury, Deepak Chahar’s participation in the league for the 2022 season looks doubtful.

Rashid Khan is one of the best spinners in the world at the moment. He represented the Sunrisers Hyderabad last season and was their leading wicket-taker. Ahead of the Indian Premier League 2022 auctions, the debutants Gujarat Titans signed Rashid through the draft system.

The Afghanistan spinner is one of the most expensive players this season. The Gujarat Titans will pay him INR 15 crores per season, which is approximately INR 4.46 Lakh for each ball, this IPL 2022 season.
