In a piece of delightful news for defending champions Chennai Super Kings, ace all-rounder Deepak Chahar is likely to be available from mid-April. Earlier it was reported that Chahar might miss the entire IPL 2022, but it seems like the cricketer will be available for the second half of the tournament.

Incidentally, Chahar sustained a quadricep tear during the T20I series against West Indies which forced him to miss the subsequent series against Sri Lanka. Initial reports suggested that Deepak Chahar might miss the entire season and will undergo surgery but it is unlikely to be the case.

The plan for the surgery has been contemplated and Deepak Chahar will return to action earlier than reported. A report in TOI suggests that the ace all-rounder will join CSK’s camp in Surat and will be monitored by the franchise’s medical staff.

The four-time IPL champions have broken the bank to reacquire his service for INR 14 crores at the mega auction. Deepak Chahar has been a pivotal part of CSK since the 2018 season. So far, he has taken 58 wickets in as many appearances.

Besides his contribution with the ball, the all-rounder from Rajasthan is also more than handy with the bat in the lower-order. He has played some crucial knocks for the men in yellow in the cash-rich league.

Meanwhile, MS Dhoni & Co have already begun preparations for the 15th edition of the tournament in Surat. CSK captain along with some other Indian cricketers have already joined the camp and the rest are expected to join in the next couple of days.

Chennai Super Kings will begin their IPL 2022 campaign against last year’s runner-up Kolkata Knight Riders on March 26 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
