Delhi Capitals power-hitter Rovman Powell is confident of breaking the longest six record of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season. The record currently rests with Punjab Kings’ batter Liam Livingstone.

Liam smashed a humongous 117-m long six against the Gujarat Titans this season. Powell feels that he can break the Englishman’s record. The West Indies batter has been in blazing form since the last couple of matches for the Delhi Capitals. On Thursday, he slammed 67-runs of just 35 balls, including three boundaries and six sixes.

Powell took on the Sunrisers Hyderabad pacer Umran Malik in the last over of the innings and scored 19 runs off the over. He also struck a 104-meter six during his knock. Powell along with David Warner powered Delhi Capitals to a match-winning score of 207 runs. In the post-match interaction with Shane Watson, Powell said,

“I think I can break the 117-meter mark. I told Mandeep yesterday that I am going to hit the ball close to the 130-meter mark. Let’s see how it goes.”

The key is to not overhit the ball – Rovman Powell

Rovman Powell and David Warner put together a 122-runs stand for the fourth wicket partnership in the match. They upheld the aggressive scoring rate throughout their partnership. Speaking post-match, Rovman Powell expressed that it is important to not overhit the ball. He said,

“The key is to not try and overhit the ball. Once you get into good positions, once you get a good base, it’s just about the core. My core is strong and then, on good wickets, I can swing through the line, hit the ball across the line, and swing like a golfer.”

“That’s basically what I do. I give myself a chance and use the depth of the crease so that I can get under the balls when they try to bowl full,” Rovman Powell added.
