Gujarat Titans spinner Rashid Khan is gearing up for the finals of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season. The Hardik Pandya-led team will take on the Rajasthan Royals at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, May 29.

Rashid Khan has been a vital cog in the wheel for the Gujarat Titans this season. He is their second-leading wicket-taker, with 18 wickets to his name at an average of 22.38. The most impressive has been Rashid’s economy rate of 6.73, in the Indian Premier League 2022 season.

Ahead of the finals against the Rajasthan Royals, Rashid Khan wants to keep things simple. In an interaction with cricket.com, he expressed that his mindset hasn’t changed as he tries to not concede many runs and keep things tight at his bowling end. Rashid said,

“My mindset is not different in the playoffs. The energy and the thought are the same throughout. But teams take it safe against me. I try to keep it tight and that helps the bowler at the other end, which increases the chances of picking up wickets.”

“Irrespective of whether it is a league game or knockouts, my mindset is to bowl in a certain area and I don’t try anything different. The oppositions try to play me off safely in big games and that’s why economy-wise I bowl well. My objective is to build pressure,” he added.

There was no confusion in players’ minds on the responsibility – Rashid Khan

The Gujarat Titans spinner Rashid Khan expressed that role clarity under the leadership of Hardik Pandya has helped the team to get reach the finals. The players knew what their responsibilities were, leading to clear minds. Rashid Khan said,

“It was something that helped us to get to this position because it was clear to each and every player where my position is, where I am going to bat and he was very clear that this is going to be the situation and was fully prepared for that. There was no confusion in players’ minds on the responsibility and how I am going to play, what role I am going to play and it was clear from game one and that is why it is more important.”
