IPL 2022: “Riyan Parag Is Not A Game Changer” – Madan Lal Criticizes The Rajasthan Royals Youngster

Former India cricketer Madan Lal has criticized Rajasthan Royals youngster Riyan Parag. He remarked that Riyan did not give a single noteworthy performance in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season.

Batting in the middle order for the Rajasthan Royals, Riyan scored only 183 runs in fourteen innings, at a dismal average of 16.64. Apart from a fifty against the Royal Challengers Bangalore, the 20-year-old could not make much of an impact.

Speaking about Riyan Parag’s performance in the tournament, Madan Lal expressed that the youngster has not performed even after getting many chances. He added that the Rajasthan Royals batter is not a game-changer batting lower in the order. Speaking on Sports Tak, Madan Lal said:

“Riyan Parag has appeared in all games but has not offered single effectiveness. When it comes to him, he is not a game-changer changer. Until now, all IPLs that have chosen to take players and all players who have participated have already shown improved performance and stepped up.”

Riyan Parag has made no progress – Madan Lal

The former India cricketer further added that Riyan has not made any progress over the last few years. In his 47-matches IPL career, Riyan averages around 16, scoring 522 runs with a strike rate of 124.88. He has only two fifties to his name in the IPL.

Madan Lal expressed that Riyan batters in the lower order, where there is a need for the batters to accelerate and score at a brisk pace. He stated:

“However, provided the number of chances available to him, this player (Riyan Parag) has made no progress. The slot in which he plays is very important in T20 cricket. Because that is where you can accelerate and score runs. Now if you can’t score runs from there, your difficulties will only increase.”
