Star Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) cricketer Virat Kohli has checked into the team hotel ahead of IPL 2022. He will now undergo a mandatory quarantine of three days before joining the training.

The Royal Challengers took to social media to announce Kohli’s arrival. The right-handed batter has been a part of the side right from the inaugural edition of the cash-rich league.

The franchise captioned the post as:

“King Kohli has arrived! That’s it. That’s the news. 🙌🏻👑 #PlayBold #WeAreChallengers #IPL2022 #Mission2022#ViratKohli.”

Meanwhile, this will be the first time in nine years that Virat Kohli will not captain Royal Challengers Bangalore. The talismanic run-scorer relinquished his leadership duties after IPL 2021.

While he has won many memorable game for RCB but couldn’t manage to guide them to the elusive title. They came close to winning the trophy but lost in the final in 2016.

With no responsibility on his shoulder, a different Virat Kohli could be on offer when the tournament kicks off on March 26. So far, the former Indian captain has amassed 6283 runs in 207 matches and is the highest run-scorer in the competition.

“It might be dangerous news for opposition teams” – Glenn Maxwell on Virat Kohli stepping down as captain

Kohli’s RCB team Glenn Maxwell recently weighed on the former stepping down as the captain and how it can be a worrying sign for other teams in the competition.

Maxewll feels that Kohli now is no longer the “in-your face” aggressive cricketer that he used to be and that has been pleasantly surprising.

“He knows he’s handing the captaincy over, which I think is potentially a big burden for him. It might have been something that’s been weighing him down for a while and now that he’s been able to release it, it might be dangerous news for opposition teams,” Maxwell told RCB Podcast.

He added:

“It is amazing for him to be relaxed a bit and actually enjoy the next few years of his career without any of that sort of external pressure. I think playing against him in earlier days, he was a fiery competitor, getting in your face. He’s always trying to impose himself on the game. Impose himself on the opposition.”
