IPL 2023: Aakash Chopra Opines On Delhi Capitals’ Likely Change For The Next Game

Delhi Capitals had a forgettable game in the first match where they were handed a 50 runs loss in the IPL 2023. Lucknow Super Giants beat Delhi Capitals by 50 runs. Delhi Capitals missed their premier fast bowler Nortje in the first match due to national games.

Nortje completed the two-match series vs Netherlands. However, Nortje has returned to the side and is likely to be included straightaway in the playing XI. Mukesh Kumar or Chetan Sakariya could be benched in place of Nortje.

Akash Chopra feels either Powell or Rossouw will have to sit out for Nortje, but that will mean that Delhi will play an extra bowling option if this happens. Delhi will be curious to register their first win of the season. Nortje can prove to be MVP in today’s match vs Gujarat Titans.

“It would be better if he comes in as the chances of picking up wickets will increase. I feel that if Nortje plays today’s match, he will pick up at least two wickets. Khaleel Ahmed is bowling well. Chetan Sakariya can be expensive once in a while. Mukesh Kumar is good with the new ball. The old ball is probably not for him.” said Chopra.

“Whoever bowls first might get more wickets” – Aakash Chopra

Akash Chopra further went on to add that Gujarat’s bowling is their biggest strength. The batting also looks decent, the batting lineup knows how to get the job done. Delhi Capitals is one of the three teams that have failed to lift the cup. But over the years they have played some extraordinary cricket and broke the door of the playoffs quite often.

The only thing missing is the prestigious IPL Trophy. Delhi will play Gujarat Titans at Arun Jaitley stadium today. Gujarat on the other hand may go ahead with the same playing XI, with just Matthew Wade or Sai Sudharsan coming in for Williamson.

Aakash Chopra also expected decent contributions with the bat from David Warner and Shubman Gill as well.

“Warner and Gill will together score more than 75 runs. The Kotla pitch is generally good, and we have seen that both openers are already in good form, so I am seeing 75-plus runs,” he added. “I think Khaleel Ahmed and Mohammad Shami will together pick up at least three wickets, although there are extremely bright chances of bowlers getting hit here. Whoever bowls first might get more wickets.”
