IPL 2023: Axar Patel Expected To Be Promoted Up The Batting Order

Axar Patel, the batsman has become India’s vital asset in red-ball cricket. Even in the absence of Jadeja, he has stood up and done exactly what was needed. Now during the IPL 2023, the Gujarat batsman is likely to receive a promotion up the batting order.

Sourav Ganguly said “Yeah that’s (batting) been discussed and he will bat up the order as his batting has improved. He has batted exceptionally well on difficult tracks against Australia and hopefully, he can score runs for us.”

Axar Patel’s Rise in Red Ball

The all-rounder has earned a reputation for himself among Jadeja and Ashwin. He has become a regular starter for the Indian team in red-ball cricket alongside Ashwin and Jadeja.

Delhi Capitals will utilize Axar’s batting up the order. With only 1 lefty in the top four, Axar can also provide the team with the left-right combination as and when needed.

The former India captain stated “So it’s not easy unless it grips and turns which doesn’t happen most of the times. Hopefully, with all his experience and ability and what he has done for India, he will come back.”

For sure, the Delhi Capitals management is looking for Axar the batsman to stand up and deliver too. Interesting if he performs and cements his place in the top four, only time will tell.

Prithvi Shaw gets backing from Ganguly and Ponting

Sourav Ganguly also backed Prithvi Shaw, however, he did not dig much into his dismissal. Ponting said that this will be Prithvi Shaw’s best IPL season, looks like the backing from these two will definitely help Shaw in regaining his confidence.

Nortje is likely to return to the playing XI today. Delhi Capitals have a strong squad this season. David Warner leads the side this season in absence of Rishabh Pant who is yet to recover from the fatal accident.
