Gujarat Titans skipper Hardik Pandya expressed that he won’t be bragging about their win against the Krunal Pandya-led Lucknow Super Giants team on Sunday, May 6 in Ahmedabad in the 2023 Indian Premier League. This was the first time that the Pandya brothers faced each other as captains of their respective teams.
Krunal Pandya led the Lucknow Super Giants in KL Rahul’s absence. Rahul has been ruled out of the 2023 Indian Premier League due to an injury. Gujarat Titans emerged as winners by 56 runs, defending 227 in the match. Speaking about the game, after the win, Hardik Pandya said,
“I don’t think there’ll be bragging rights with Krunal. Our love is too strong, I hope he does well. I’d have been happier if things had gotten closer and he had some bragging rights too.”
There’s leg pulling but only for a couple of minutes: Krunal Pandya
Earlier before the game, Lucknow Super Giants stand-in skipper Krunal Pandya expressed that his mother would be proud to see him and Hardik lead the team in the Indian Premier League. He had expressed that regardless of who wins, two 2 points would come home. Krunal Pandya said,
“You don’t dream of captaining your side in IPL or facing Hardik but the family is happy. Mom was saying two points will come home in the end anyway. There’s so much of love between me and Hardik. There’s leg pulling but it happens only a couple of minutes.”
Batting first, Gujarat Titans put on 227 runs, on the back of a great opening stand between Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha. The duo added 142 runs, with Shubman Gill slamming 94 runs, and Saha scoring 81 in the match. In the second innings, Mohit Sharma took four wickets to power the Titans to a comfortable win. They retained their top spot, with eight wins from eleven matches.
