When Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) faced off in game No. 1, former Indian opener Gautam Gambhir made his way back to the historic Eden Gardens during the 68th game of the 2023 Indian Premier League.

Gambhir led KKR to two IPL title victories. He was greeted warmly by Kolkata supporters at Eden Gardens. At the renowned location, a few unique banners welcomed the former KKR captain as well.

After KKR’s final IPL 2023 game, Gambhir posted on Instagram to express his love for the City of Joy. Nitish Rana was seen giving Gambhir a special KKR jersey after the IPL 2023 match in another popular Instagram post published by KKR.

Additionally, Gambhir posted images of the unique banners for the former captain of the KKR. Which read, “Bring GG back to KKR”. Between 2011 and 2017. The two-time IPL champion captain Gambhir played for KKR for seven IPL seasons.

The LSG coach thanked the KKR supporters he met at Eden Gardens by writing, “You know how much I love u Kolkata!,” as the caption of his Instagram post.

KKR also included a picture of Rana and Gambhir having a fanboy moment in the post. The post from KKR quickly went viral on social media. Rana and Gambhir have both represented Delhi on the domestic circuit.

After Mumbai-born Shreyas Iyer was forced to miss the entire IPL 2023 season. Due to injury, premier batter Rana took over as the head of the KKR team. Rana’s leadership of KKR allowed them to finish seventh, according to the IPL 2023 standings. The group Rana and Co. had six victories in 14 games during the IPL 2023. The Knight Riders’ interim captain led his team to two championships by scoring 413 runs in 14 games.

“The following season, I’ll be better. To compete in the top league and place in the top four. You must perform well in each of the three areas. We could have qualified in the top four, which makes me regret it. We will correct our mistakes and improve for the following campaign. I feel like I’ve mentioned Rinku in each of the 14 matches,” after LSG’s 1-run victory over KKR in their final league match of IPL 2023, Rana said, “I am personally very happy for him (Rinku). And since the entire world has seen what he is capable of on a cricket field. I don’t really have words to describe him.”
