Former cricketer Harbhajan Singh has hailed Kolkata Knight Riders’ batter Rinku Singh’s impressive run in the 2023 Indian Premier League. He expressed that an India call-up is around the corner for the young cricketer. Rinku Singh has been outstanding this season for the franchise, playing a vital role lower down the batting order.

The left-handed batter has scored 337 runs at an average of 56.17, at a strike rate of 151.12. He has played some match-winning knocks for the franchise, with the best being his five sixes in the final over against Gujarat Titans. Former cricketer Harbhajan Singh expressed that Rinku Singh’s journey is inspiration, and should be getting an India call-up soon. He said to Star Sports,

“That India cap is not far away from Rinku’s head. He’s such an inspirational player. He’s run all the hard yards and worked very hard to get to where he is today. Full credit to him for having that belief in himself. His journey is a life lesson and all young kids should learn from him.”

Rinku Singh knows how to convert his form into good knocks: Mohammad Kaif

Former cricketer Mohammad Kaif also lauded Rinku Singh’s performance in the 2023 Indian Premier League season. He expressed that the left-hander knows how to shift gears and play as per the situation. Kaif also praised Rinku Singh’s footwork, which has helped him to do well this season. He said,

“Rinku Singh has that maturity. His footwork is very good and he looks to rotate strikes as well. Rinku knows how to convert his form into good knocks and also knows when to shift gears. He is capable of hitting big shots as well.”

The Kolkata Knight Riders are sixth on the points table with five wins, from eleven games and an NRR of -0.079. They will play against the Rajasthan Royals on Thursday, May 11 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
