On April 23 at Kolkata’s renowned Eden Gardens, the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will play host to the victorious Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the IPL 2023. KKR has lost three straight games and will try to turn things around against CSK by giving a strong performance in front of their supporters.

KKR is eighth out of ten teams in the points table after winning just two and losing four of their six games thus far. At Eden Gardens, Kolkata Knight Riders easily defeated RCB. At Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, they triumphed in a nail-biting three-wicket victory over Gujarat Titans (GT), winning their second straight game.

When chasing a 228-run target in Kolkata, the batters, however, were unable to duplicate their heroics against SRH and fell 23 runs short. At the Wankhede, KKR later suffered a defeat to the Mumbai Indians (MI). With five wickets in hand and 14 balls remaining, MI successfully chased down the 186-run target.

KKR fell to DC by four wickets in Delhi during their most recent match. When compared to a DC team that had already dropped all five of their games this season, they were clearly inferior.

This season, Venkatesh Iyer has pitched six innings and scored 234 runs. With 180 and 154 runs to their names, respectively, Rinku Singh and captain Nitish Rana have ably supported him. For KKR thus far this season, the opening partnership has failed to make any significant contributions and the team has lost numerous cheap wickets as a result.

This season KKR has already experimented with Mandeep Singh and N Jagadeesan at the top. None of them has had the desired effect on the game. Part-timers Rana and Anukul Roy tried their best along with Chakravarthy to make things difficult for the DC batters.

This season KKR’s primary wicket-takers have been the spinners. With a combined economy of 8, Sunil Narine, Varun Chakravarty and Suyash Sharma have taken 21 wickets. In his first four overs of bowling, Russell contributed with three wickets but he has also given up a lot of runs.

Suyash Sharma might be used as the impact player in the second innings if KKR chooses to bat first. Venkatesh Iyer, however, might be used as the Impact Player if they choose to take the field first.
