On May 26 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, the defending champion Gujarat Titans and the Mumbai Indians will face off in Qualifier 2 of the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL) season.
This season, GT and MI engaged in two intense matchups with 200+ score totals. Qualifier 2 is predicted to feature some thrilling player battles, just like the first two games.
Let’s have a look at the key player battles:
1 Mohammed Shami vs Rohit Sharma
As they begin the proceedings in their respective departments, Rohit Sharma and Mohammed Shami are sure to disagree with one another.
In previous encounters, the pacer has the advantage over Rohit because he twice removed the MI captain during IPL games. Notably, the batter’s strike rate in this matchup is just 118.51.
Against Shami this year, Rohit has scored eight runs off six balls.
2 Rashid Khan vs Suryakumar Yadav
Stopping Suryakumar Yadav from firing would be one of GT’s most important tasks. The MI batter has recently been in outstanding shape. In his most recent game against the Titans, he smashed an unbeaten century.
Rashid Khan, a leg-spinner, could be used by GT against SKY as a result. Although Rashid has a track record of taking wickets, he has yet to get rid of SKY in the IPL (67 off 47 balls).
3 Akash Madhwal vs Hardik Pandya
GT captain Hardik Pandya needs runs more than ever this year compared to last. In his last four innings, he has only reached double digits once.
Hardik has interestingly lost to the Pacers six times in IPL 2023.
Hardik can be attacked in the middle overs by MI’s new hero, Akash Madhwal. It’s noteworthy that the former has nine wickets in his last two games.
