Sai Sudharsan thanks Hardik Pandya for being my captain after receiving the first Player of the Match award of IPL 2023.
After receiving his first Player of the Match honour on Monday, Gujarat Titans rookie Sai Sudharsan thanked captain Hardik Pandya for believing in him. To win against DC, Sai Sudharsan admitted, he would play a challenging game.
Due to his outstanding batting performance against DC, Sudharsan was named Player of the Match. Sai Sudharsan, a batsman for the Gujarat Titans, was overjoyed after hitting the game-winning run against the Delhi Capitals and thanked his captain Hardik Pandya for believing in him. On Monday, he received his first IPL Player of the Match award.
With a 53-run fourth-wicket partnership, Sai Sudharshan and Vijay Shankar—who was brought in as the impact player—significantly aided Gujarat’s scoring.
Sai Sudharsan scored a half-century
Before David Miller (31* off 16) made a powerful comeback and Sudharshan (62* off 48) kept the runs coming while also reaching his half-century, Marsh sent Shankar back to the pavilion to give DC a moment’s relief.
“I appreciate your support. I’m a little anxious because this is my first award.” In response to receiving the Player of the Match award, Sai Sudharsan said, “I wasn’t under pressure.”
Miller, who relieved the pressure with two sixes off Mukesh Kumar, and Sudharasan, who played a fantastic 62-run knock, were outstanding as they stitched a 50-run partnership off just 28 deliveries.
They then successfully finished the chase with 11 deliveries to spare, giving their team their second straight victory. The defending champion Gujarat Titans continued their winning streak in the IPL as they handed the Delhi Capitals their second straight loss.
I intended to take the game far; however, it was a little low and skidding. I found more satisfaction in surviving the storm. The highlight for me was when I played late after it started seaming, said Sudharsan.
