In the lead-up to RCB’s IPL 2023 home game against CSK, Sunil Gavaskar delivered a stinging remark that silenced Virat Kohli’s detractors.

Sunil Gavaskar, a legendary player in Indian cricket, was all praise for run-machine Virat Kohli, who will lead the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batting charge against MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Monday. Match No. 1 will pit Faf du Plessis’ RCB team against the four-time champion CSK. 25 IPL 2203 matches were played at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Former New Zealand cricketer Simon Doull questioned RCB icon Virat Kohli’s batting strike rate, which has been a major factor in the race for the coveted Orange Cap. For protecting a “personal milestone” during RCB’s IPL 2023 match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), popular commentator Doull criticized Kohli.

In RCB’s previous game at the IPL 2023, Kohli responded to his detractors by playing a quick-fire knock against Delhi Capitals (DC)

By celebrating aggressively, the former RCB captain also made a dig at his detractors. Batting legend Gavaskar credited Kohli for giving Bangalore flying starts when discussing an effective batter prior to RCB’s match against CSK in the lucrative league. He said:

“Virat Kohli is starting the innings on a high note for the RCB. He is greatly deserving of praise for the starts RCB is receiving and the runs the team is able to score as a result of those starts. These are encouraging developments for RCB, Gavaskar told Star Sports.”

Former India captain Mithali Raj also praised Kohli for his match-winning innings against Delhi Capitals in her comments prior to the tantalizing match between Chennai and Bangalore.

“Virat did exactly that against the Delhi Capitals, which is crucial for a team’s T20 performance. When the bowlers reach 140 or 150 kmph, Virat charges them. The bowlers never slow him down. The former Indian captain had stated that the middle-order run-scorers strike rate would inspire confidence in the other batters to perform well when they entered.”

In addition to reaching his half-century in 33 balls, Kohli also hit a significant milestone during the RCB game against DC. At the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, the former captain of the RCB completed 2,500 IPL runs.

In the history of the IPL, the 34-year-old has scored 2,539 runs at one particular location. At Bengaluru, Kohli’s 50-run innings gave RCB a 23-run victory over DC.
