Andre Russell’s strange incident at the non-striker end of the DC vs. KKR IPL 2023 game is the ideal “THE BOYS” clip for today.

As Delhi Capitals defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by four wickets to claim their first victory of IPL 2023. All-rounder Andre Russell’s unbeaten 38 was in vain.

The game was postponed due to rain. Jason Roy scored the most runs (43 off 39 balls) as KKR batted first and was bowled out for 120. If Russell’s late fireworks hadn’t raised KKR to above 100, their total might have been considerably lower.

Russell’s four sixes and one boundary were the only things that kept KKR from being bowled out for less than 100 runs after he took two wickets in two balls. Without Russell’s contributions, the team would not have reached 120.

When Andre Russell delivered an epic “BOYS” moment, Kuldeep Yadav was on a hat trick.

The left-arm spinner was on a hat-trick when he dismissed Roy and Anukul Roy with back-to-back deliveries. Kuldeep is the only Indian bowler to have achieved this feat twice in ODIs.

He had a chance to do so for the first time in the IPL but Umesh Yada stopped him. Rashid Khan had already recorded one hat trick.

However, Russell’s unexpected antics at the non-striker’s end garnered more attention online than the hat-trick ball. Russell took up guard at the non-striker’s end with his head turned toward deep midwicket as Kuldeep prepared to run in.

Users were shocked to learn that Russell was too preoccupied with his own thoughts as his team was about to be rocked. Batters typically do this as a form of practice.

Russell avoided becoming distracted by what was happening on the other end. He took matters into his own hands and gave KKR something to cheer for near the end when Umesh died in the 16th over.

Russell hit three consecutive sixes in the innings’ final over. Including one that travelled 109 meters for the fourth-longest six of the 2023 IPL for a hat-trick of his own.

As KKR gave themselves more than just a chance to defend 120. Russell could only bowl one over for 12 runs later on in the game. Delhi was in trouble at 93/4 thanks to two wickets each from Varun Chakravarthy, Roy and captain Nitish Rana.

DC captain David Warner scored 57 runs off 41 bats, maintaining DC’s pursuit of the target. But KKR saw an opportunity and the outcome might have been different if Axar Patel hadn’t kept his cool and led the team home.
