Delhi Capitals skipper David Warner engaged in fun banter with Chennai Super Kings all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja on Saturday, May 20 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi in the 2023 Indian Premier League. He imitated Ravindra Jadeja’s famous ‘sword celebration’ leaving everyone, including the commentators in splits.

The incident took place during the fifth over of the second innings. David Warner jabbed a delivery off Deepak Chahar for a single run. The ball went to Moeen Ali who threw at the non-striker’s end, where Warner dived to get in the crease. However, the ball missed the stumps and was backed up by Ajinkya Rahane.

Rahane threw the ball back, after waiting for a while, and Ravindra  Jadeja picked it up. As Ravindra Jadeja threatened to run out David Warner who was out of his crease. The Australian opener imitated the all-rounder’s sword celebration. The two players broke out in laughter seeing Warner’s imitation.

Chennai Super Kings secure huge win against Delhi Capitals

The Chennai Super Kings registered their eighth win of the 2023 Indian Premier League season. They defended 223 runs comfortably winning by a huge margin of 77 runs. Batting first, the openers Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad put up a brilliant stand of 141 runs. Conway scored 87 runs, while Gaikad made 79.

In response, Delhi Capitals managed just 146 runs at the loss of nine wickets. Deepak Chahar picked up a three-wicket haul in the innings, while Theekshana and Pathirana took two wickets each. With the Chennai Super Kings win, they have secured a place in the playoff of the tournament. They will most likely play against the Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 1 at their home ground in Chepauk.
