IPL fever has turned into MS Dhoni’s “homecoming” for fans in the Capital. And Delhiites are ready to welcome their favourite cricketer to Arun Jaitley Stadium.

For today’s Indian Premier League (IPL) match between Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals. MS Dhoni supporters plan to paint the Arun Jaitley Stadium yellow.

Pulling out all the stops to watch their favourite cricketer in action. Many in the city are prepared with their Dhoni jerseys in tow to support their Thala!

Dhoni supporters in Delhi are prepared to support Captain Cool

“This might be Mahi’s last IPL and final match in the Capital so we just couldn’t miss the chance,” says Chaitanya Pal. “The match tickets cost me a bomb. But I could spend anything to catch Dhoni play live in Delhi!”

Those who were unable to obtain tickets for stadium entry have not allowed their spirits to die. Divyansha Sohnvi, a 23-year-old Pitampura resident, is one of them.

She laments, “I was ready to buy the tickets online, but they were all sold out in literally ten minutes! I am so disappointed I can’t watch him, you know. I intentionally took a day off before the game”. “Main toh abhi bhi try kar rahi hun for tickets to see Thala live!”.

The bar manager of Noida’s Sutra club says, “We are welcoming Dhoni fans to watch him play on the big screen. And offering discounts to those who show up wearing his team’s yellow jersey. We have specially organized the screening and turned the club into a sports bar for the evening ”.

The majority of fans admit that they don’t want to stay at home and will be watching Captain Cool in bars and restaurants. Because of the excitement, many office workers have requested a half day.

Zubair Khan says, “My team is taking the day off today to watch the game at a bar close to work. We’re all Dhoni supporters. Finally, Apni State Ek Taraf, Poore Desh ne Dhoni ko Hi Support karna Hai. Mehfil jamayenge, sab office jaane ki jagah jersey pehen ke baithenge ”.

According to Jagriti Sinha, “There were so many employees clamouring for leave only for this that we decided to officially make it a half-day for everyone.” She adds, “They can go home, enjoy the match, or whatever.”. But even in Delhi, Dhoni is revered by many as a god, and cricket is a religion. Toh main khud bhi hoon CSK ki fan ”.
