IPL 2023: [WATCH] How Sikandar Raza Foiled MS Dhoni’s Strategy In The Final Ball

Sikandar Raza foiled MS Dhoni’s master plan with the final ball in a thrilling chase in the history of PBKS vs CSK in the IPL 2023. In order to help PBKS write a record chase, Sikandar Raza outwitted Dhoni’s plan for the final ball on Sunday.

MS Dhoni is a master tactician when it comes to defending runs in the final over. As evidenced by the glimpse of one of his last-over-bat finishes that occurred on Sunday at the Chepauk.

On Sunday, however, Sikandar Raza outsmarted him in the final ball of a dramatic chase for the Punjab Kings. They eventually pulled off a record victory against CSK. Despite the fact that he had changed the fielding positions for a few players and advised the outfielders to sprint quickly.

Watch How Sikandar Raza foiled MS Dhoni’s strategy in the final ball:

In IPL, Chepauk has rarely been rendered silent. The fans of the Chennai Super Kings hoped for the best with a 201-run target set for the visiting team, Punjab Kings and with master strategist MS Dhoni on the field and playing his best. But Punjab had a clear plan in place.

In the powerplay, Prabhsimran Singh and Shikhar Dhawan gave the visitors a quick start. The latter maintained the lead after the captain was dismissed. With the wickets getting slower, CSK recovered thanks to Dhoni’s use of his spin unit to bowl in tandem. Before Sam Curran and Liam Livingstone launched their assault following the second timeout, Chennai’s strategy performed admirably.

A lucky dismissal of the threatening-looking Jitesh Sharma by Rasheed. Who took an inch-perfect catch, left Punjab needing to score nine runs in the final over against Matheesha Pathirana. And helped CSK recover once more by picking up some crucial wickets.

Despite appearing anxious, the Chepauk crowd had faith in Dhoni. As he directed the outfielder deep on the offside to sprint quickly in an effort to prevent a Super Over scenario, the captain maintained a composed appearance.

After some negotiation, nothing changed as Raza prepared for the final ball. As Raza shuffled across and assisted Pathirana over backward square leg, it moved more slowly and on the stumps. Chennai has a 7 out of 7 record in the IPL and has never lost an afternoon game there. But PBKS’s victory ensured that the streak was over. Punjab also became the first visiting team to defeat Chennai after the hosts scored 200 runs or more there.
