Yashasvi Jaiswal

Yashasvi Jaiswal continued his streak of prolific scoring in the 16th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Sunday, smashing a sensational century against Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Wankhede Stadium.

In game No. 42, the RR opener recorded his first IPL century. Between former champions Rajasthan and Mumbai, of the Indian Premier League. Jaiswal’s masterful batting performance gave Sanju Samson and Co. A boost. At Wankhede, the visitors were defeated by a huge total.

After RR captain Samson won the toss and decided to bat at Wankhede, opener Jaiswal teamed up with superstar Jos Buttler to punish the MI bowling attack. Within the first seven overs, Jaiswal and Buttler combined for a remarkable 72-run opening stand. In the high-scoring match, Jaiswal launched an all-out assault on the MI bowlers while Buttler (18), Samson (14) and Devdutt Padikkal (2) struggled to get going.

Youngster Jaiswal led the 2008 champions’ batting charge and reached his century in the 18th over of the innings during the 1000th IPL game. In Riley Meredith’s penultimate ball of his over, Jaiswal hit a boundary, giving him his first century of the IPL 2023. The hometown hero, who had a promising IPL career, also made history by scoring his first-ever century.

Twitter Fan’s Reaction on Yashasvi Jaiswal:

In the lucrative league, Jaiswal is the fourth-youngest batter to record a century. The RR opener is the fourth player on the special list, just behind Manish Pandey (19 years, 253 days), Rishabh Pant (20 years, 218 days), and Devdutt Padikkal (20 years, 289 days). The Mumbai native also holds the IPL record for highest individual score by an uncapped player.

In the richest T20 league in the world, Jaiswal is the fifth Indian batter who has never won a cap to record a century. Jaiswal is the second batter in an IPL game where no other teammate scored more than 20 runs, trailing only the legendary New Zealander Brendon McCullum (158* in 2008). Jaiswal’s outstanding performance of 124 off 62 balls helped RR beat MI with their highest IPL total.
