IPL 2024

Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings will open their campaign in the first match of the doubleheader to be played at the newly formed stadium, Mullanpur on 23rd March. It will see the return of Pant as a captain and player for Delhi Capitals after recovering from a fatal accident.

Both teams had equal success in IPL history, winning 16 matches each. It promises to be an exciting battle with many winners on each side.

Here we look at the 3 player battles between Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings in match 2 of IPL 2024.

  1. David Warner vs Kagiso Rabada

The main battle would be between South African pacer Kagiso Rabada versus David Warner. Rabada has a great record against the Australian pocket dynamo dismissing him thrice in the Indian Premier League history.

If the conditions help the pace bowlers initially, Rabada could be a handful which creates pressure on Warner. This battle promises to be a fierce one and it will be interesting to see who comes as winners and help their side start the journey on a winning note.

  1. Shikhar Dhawan vs Ishant Sharma

Punjab Kings captain Shikhar Dhawan has been retained by the franchise ahead of the opening match against Delhi Capitals. The southpaw’s main challenge will be against the new ball against Ishant Sharma.

Dhawan has a superb record against Delhi Capitals with 675 runs and looks to provide an aggressive start in the first six overs. Dhawan has faced Ishant Sharma in 7 innings while the Indian pace bowler has dismissed him three times while Dhawan has scored just 36 runs.

Dhawan would be hoping to thrive against the new ball and put pressure on Delhi Capitals bowlers. Ishant Sharma picked a total of 82 wickets in the IPL, out of which 50 of them came in the first six overs. This battle will decide which team will start the tournament on a winning note.

  1. Kuldeep Yadav vs Liam Livingstone

The hard-hitting England batter, Liam Livingstone, has struggled against top-quality spinners. Kuldeep Yadav has dismissed Livingstone once in IPL history as DC may use this tactic again.

Livingstone struggled against leg spinners in the middle overs. Kuldeep Yadav is coming into the IPL with lovely performances in the test series against England. The chainmen bowler will be eager to continue his impressive stats and hope to create an impact in the middle overs.

Livingstone has fallen to leg spinners 7 times out of 18 innings in IPL history. Kuldeep Yadav will be eager to showcase his domination over Livingstone and pick his wicket to put Punjab Kings under pressure.
