The 2024 opening match between defending Champions Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru recorded the highest-ever viewership on opening day in IPL history.

The first match between CSK and RCB saw 16.8 Crore watch live on day 1 which resulted in 1276 Crore minutes which is the highest ever viewership during opening day since the inception of this prestigious tournament in 2008.

RCB versus CSK match on 22nd March saw the highest ever-peak TV concurrency for an opening day of IPL. A total of 6.1 Crore watched the telecast simultaneously on the Disney Star network.

The TV broadcast saw various legends including Navjot Singh Sidhu returning to commentary stint, Harbhajan Singh, Irfan Pathan in Hindi. Ravi Shastri, Matthew Hayden, Steve Smith and Stuart Broad made their debut in English. It was a great panel team that commentated on CSK versus RCB opening game on 22nd March.

CSK beat RCB On opening day of IPL 2024

Chennai Super Kings registered a comprehensive win over RCB in the opening match of the season on 22nd March 2024. RCB posted 173 for 6 in 20 overs with contributions by Faf du Plessis, Dinesh Karthik and Anuj Rawat. In reply, Rachin Ravindra got off to a flying start along with Ruturaj Gaikwad. Despite losing wickets in middle overs, Shivam Dube and Ravindra Jadeja put on an unbeaten 66-run stand for the 5th wicket that helped CSK win the match by six wickets.
