IPL 2024: [WATCH] “There’s A New Captain Huh” – MS Dhoni’s Playful Reply To The Anchor During An Event Goes Viral

Some Chennai Super Kings (CSK) players attended a social event during the ongoing 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL). Newcomers Rachin Ravindra and Shivam Dube, along with Ravindra Jadeja and former captain MS Dhoni, enjoyed a fun session.

Despite dropping a crucial catch in CSK’s recent match against the Gujarat Titans (GT), Rachin Ravindra made amends by taking three catches successfully. The opening batter was highly active on the field.

He sprinted from extra cover to cover and executed a fantastic catch to dismiss Azmatullah Omarzai. Following that, he caught Rashid Khan at deep square leg and then took an easy catch on the long-off boundary to dismiss Rahul Tewatia.

The host at the CSK event mentioned Rachin’s missed catch, querying the CSK opener if he glanced at MS Dhoni after the miss and if the wicketkeeper-batter had any words for him.

Dhoni promptly responded:

“There’s a new captain huh.”

The audience at the event shared a hearty laugh when the anchor jokingly remarked that seeing Dhoni as captain was like “muscle memory.” Returning to the anchor’s question, Dhoni added:

“It’s there but I’m not somebody who reacts a lot, especially at somebody who is playing their first or second game. So yeah. And I think Rutu (Ruturaj Gaikwad) is quite the same. But it was fun to watch him (Rachin) move all around like 360 (degrees) he was everywhere, felt like he was dancing.”

CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad secures consecutive victories for his team

After securing his first victory as the Chennai Super Kings’ captain against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Ruturaj Gaikwad led the five-time champions to their second consecutive win in IPL 2024 by defeating Shubman Gill’s Gujarat Titans.

In a match similar of last year’s final, CSK’s batsmen capitalized on the pitch conditions, posting a total of 206 while batting first. Gaikwad and Rachin laid a strong foundation for the team at the start, followed by contributions from the middle-order batsmen.

In the second match, GT began strongly, but Deepak Chahar provided the crucial breakthrough by dismissing openers Gill and Wriddhiman Saha for the home side. After that, wickets continued to fall at regular intervals, and GT finished with a total of 143 runs in 20 overs, losing the match by 63 runs.

This victory marked Gaikwad’s second as CSK’s captain and propelled the defending champions to the top of the points table. CSK’s next IPL match is against Delhi Capitals (DC) on Sunday, March 31, in Visakhapatnam.
