Lasith Malinga Gives His Seat To Hardik Pandya Before Leaving; Video Goes Viral

Amid questions about Hardik Pandya’s leadership, a video on social media suggests that bowling coach Lasith Malinga ignored the MI captain. Things aren’t going well for Mumbai Indians (MI) captain Hardik Pandya as the team suffered their second loss in the IPL 2024.

After a close defeat to the Gujarat Titans (GT) in their first match, MI faced a comprehensive defeat against SRH. SRH scored 277-3, achieving the highest team total in IPL history, and defeated MI by 31 runs in a match filled with sixes at the Uppal Stadium.

Amid scrutiny over Pandya’s captaincy, a video circulating on social media suggests that MI’s bowling coach Lasith Malinga ignored Pandya, who then sat beside a frustrated Kieron Pollard. Multiple users on social media platform X shared the video.

Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma set a historic IPL record against MI

SRH opener Travis Head (62 off 24) and number three Abhishek Sharma (63 off 23) showcased remarkable power-hitting, with Sharma quickly surpassing Head to claim the franchise’s fastest fifty.

Heinrich Klaasen’s explosive knock of 80 not out off 34 balls added to the fireworks, enabling SRH to break an 11-year-old record. The previous highest total in the IPL, set by Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2013, was surpassed as SRH posted the highest total ever recorded in a T20 league.

Mumbai bowlers were stunned by SRH’s onslaught of sixes, but their batsmen emerged determined and turned the match around from what seemed like a one-sided affair at the innings break. In the end, they finished at 246 for five in 20 overs.

A total of 38 sixes were hit in the match, setting a new record, and it marked the first instance of 500 runs being scored in a T20 game.

“The wicket was good but 277, no matter how good or bad you bowl, if the opposition get 277 that means they batted very well. It was tough out there for bowlers. Close to 500 runs were scored so the wicket was helping the batters,” Hardik said after the match.
