IPL 2024: Hardik Pandya’s Disheartened Responses Following MI’s Defeat Goes Viral

During the latter part of the IPL 2024 game against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Mumbai Indians (MI) captain Hardik Pandya appeared gloomy. The match occurred on Friday (May 3) at the Wankhede Stadium.

Hardik’s challenging debut season as MI captain persisted as KKR defeated his team by 24 runs. MI now finds themselves in the ninth position on the points table with eight losses in 11 games, placing them on the verge of elimination from the playoffs contention.

KKR, batting first, posted a total of 169 runs in 19.5 overs, aided by Venkatesh Iyer’s 70 and Manish Pandey’s 42. Jasprit Bumrah and Nuwan Thushara both claimed three wickets each, while Hardik took two wickets for MI.

The Mumbai Indians’ batting lineup struggled in challenging conditions and was dismissed for 145 runs in 18.5 overs. Suryakumar Yadav’s courageous innings of 56 runs from 35 balls kept MI in the game until he was dismissed in the 16th over. Following his departure, the mood turned grim for the Mumbai side.

Hardik Pandya, who scored 1 run off 3 balls, appeared distressed and dejected while observing the match from the dugout in the final moments, witnessing his team’s dismal situation.

“Obviously, there will be a few questions but we’ll take some time to answer them” – Hardik Pandya

Following the match, Hardik Pandya emphasized that the absence of partnerships in the batting lineup hindered their pursuit. Reflecting on the defeat, Pandya remarked:

“In the batting, we couldn’t form any partnerships. If you keep losing wickets, it’s going to cost you. Obviously, there will be a few questions but we’ll take some time to answer them. For now, not much to say. The bowlers did a fantastic job in the first innings and the conditions did get better with the dew.”

Pandya continued: “We’ll have the debrief later and see where things went wrong. You’ve got to keep fighting. The tough days come with their fair share of good days, you have to be there for them.”

MI will face SRH in their upcoming IPL 2024 match on Monday (May 6) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
