IPL 2024: “He Has Gone For A Scan” -Pravin Amre Announces Mitchell Marsh’s Absence From IPL 2024 For At Least One More Week

Delhi Capitals coach Pravin Amre stated that all-rounder Mitchell Marsh will remain sidelined for another week due to a hamstring injury, causing him to miss the IPL 2024 match against Mumbai Indians.

As a result, Jhye Richardson replaced him in the lineup, depriving Capitals of an additional batsman, leading to a 29-run defeat in a high-scoring game. Following Delhi’s loss to Mumbai at the Wankhede on Sunday, Amre elaborated on Marsh’s injury status:

“A few of our players are injured, and the worrying sign is Mitch Marsh. He has gone for a scan, and the physios will give us a report in a week’s time.”

“Then we will come to know what the exact situation is. Whether he can (play the entire season) or not depends on the reports.”

Marsh has a significant injury record. In his eighth IPL season, the West Australian has appeared in a total of 42 matches in the tournament. There were concerns about the 32-year-old’s involvement in IPL 2022, but he managed to play eight matches.

He withdrew from the 2021 edition due to bubble fatigue and sustained an ankle injury in the preceding season.

“We need to begin winning matches, but we’ve been hindered by several injuries”- Pravin Amre

Amre also mentioned that the team’s momentum has been significantly affected by injuries.

“We have to start winning but have been set back by a few injuries. In the first game, Ishant (Sharma) couldn’t bowl two overs. Then Mukesh got injured. Kuldeep has not played three games.”

“Marsh has a hamstring injury. They are our main players, and whoever comes (in for them), they are not as effective because it is like A players vs B players there.”

At the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday, the Capitals conceded 234 runs, with Anrich Nortje giving away 32 runs in the 20th over to Romario Shepherd. In reply, Prithvi Shaw and Tristan Stubbs made efforts for DC, but the target was ultimately too high.
