IPL 2024: ‘I Have Got To Hit Every Ball For Six’ – Virat Kohli And Will Jacks’ Fun Banter After The Win Over GT

Virat Kohli and Will Jacks‘ impressive alliance of an unbeaten 166 runs for the second wicket led Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) to a commanding victory over Gujarat Titans (GT) in their IPL 2024 clash in Ahmedabad on Sunday, April 28th.

The pair kept the required run rate under control, with Jacks especially going on a rampage after reaching his half-century. He reached a century in just 41 balls, while Kohli maintained an unbeaten 70 runs off 44 balls.

In the 16th over, Kohli misjudged a big shot, only managing a single off Rashid Khan’s first ball. Jacks then unleashed a flurry of boundaries and sixes in the remaining deliveries, securing his century and guiding RCB to victory.

In a video shared by RCB, Virat Kohli was observed playfully exchanging remarks with Will Jacks. Kohli humorously remarked that since Jacks seemed exhausted from running between the wickets, he opted to wrap up the game with powerful shots. Here’s Kohli’s statement:

“He called for two, and when he looked back I was ready for three. And he decided ‘I have got to hit every ball for six now because I am not running every ball’ (laughs).”

In the footage, Will Jacks was also observed being greeted with enthusiastic applause from both the RCB support staff and several of his fellow teammates as he entered the dressing room.

Will Jacks shares his thoughts on partnering with Virat Kohli in batting

During the post-match presentation, Will Jacks discussed the challenge he faced at the beginning of his innings and how a particular six off Mohit Sharma boosted his momentum. He also mentioned the ongoing conversation he had with Virat Kohli, saying the following:

“I was probably trying to overhit a ball a bit. After I got one off Mohit, I just relaxed and trusted myself. To spend some time in the middle (with Kohli) is a huge learning curve. When I go away from the IPL, I would have learnt so much from batting with him and playing with him.”

Following seven defeats in their initial eight matches, RCB has secured consecutive victories, providing their fans with a reason to celebrate amidst what has been a challenging season.
