Will Jacks‘ century ensured Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s third victory of the season as they triumphed over Gujarat Titans by nine wickets at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday.

In the opening over, Faf du Plessis opted for a spinner, which proved effective as Swapnil Singh dismissed opener Wriddhiman Saha on the final ball, granting the visiting team an early advantage. Shortly after the powerplay, Glenn Maxwell claimed the wicket of skipper Shubman Gill (16 off 19 balls).

With two wickets fallen, the Tamil Nadu batsmen Sai Sudharsan and Shahrukh Khan showcased resilience for GT, forming an 86-run alliance to navigate through the middle overs of the first innings. Following Shahrukh Khan’s dismissal, Sudharsan remained at the crease till the end, maintaining momentum by hitting 8 boundaries and 4 sixes.

After losing two wickets, the Tamil Nadu cricketers Sai Sudharsan and Shahrukh Khan displayed determination for GT, forging an 86-run partnership to steer through the middle phase of the first innings. Once Shahrukh Khan was dismissed, Sudharsan stayed at the crease until the conclusion, sustaining the momentum with 8 boundaries and 4 sixes.

Virat Kohli and Will Jacks helped RCB secure two vital points

Will Jacks hammered the GT bowlers with a rapid 41-ball century, partnering with Virat Kohli, who also played impressively with a 70-run innings. Their unbeaten 166-run partnership led RCB to a crucial 9-wicket victory over GT, keeping their playoff hopes alive in the 2024 Indian Premier League.

Jacks’ first IPL century and Kohli’s swift 70 were instrumental in RCB’s win, with Kohli silencing his critics by reaching his fifty in just 32 deliveries.

Bengaluru chased 200 without much pressure. Faf du Plessis started well, then Kohli took charge, scoring 63 in the powerplay. Will Jacks struggled initially but Kohli maintained a high scoring rate. At halfway, RCB was 98/1 with Jacks at 16 off 16.

Jacks hit a six in the 11th over, but Kohli continued scoring. Jacks accelerated in the 15th over, hitting Mohit and Rashid Khan for sixes. He scored 83 off his last 24 balls as RCB won with 4 overs left.
